Michelle's Musings

Dear Friends,

I recently took a business trip/vacation to Ireland. I have never been out of the country and it has been about 5 years or more since I actually took a vacation. I tried to keep connected with my team through the internet but there were so many problems that I let them know they were on their own and hoped for the best. Everything worked out beautifully...my team R-O-C-K-S!

It was actually really nice to be so unplugged. I spent a lot of time thinking, walking, and sightseeing. When I came back home, I was tired from the jet lag, but I also found a wellspring of peace and clarity that I did not have before I left.

Before I left I was so stressed out about my life and the direction of my business. Now, I feel revitalized and ready to take my business back to basics and move forward in a much more simplified and stress-free way.

So, the lesson I learned from this experience is that I won't let myself get burned out to the point of exhaustion again. I will also take at least two weeks of vacation (totally unplugged) for personal pleasure in addition to keeping my weekends as sacred time for family and friends.

How do you unplug and de-stress when everything starts piling up? I'd really like to know.

Take care and I wish you all much peace and happiness in your life's journey.

With Gratitude,
Michelle Ulrich

Featured Article: 10 Tips to Revitalize Your Life!

What would it take for you to revitalize your life? I will give you ten tips to revitalize your life and give you more time to do the things that you love to do - like spend time with family, yourself or even make more money!

  1. Reserve one day each week to the health and wellness of your business.
  2. Reserve one day each week to the health and wellness of your family (Saturday or Sunday).
  3. Reserve one day each week to the health and wellness of yourself (Saturday or Sunday).
  4. Build focus time into your schedule every morning (at least 30 minutes) where you can get organized, prioritize and set your intentions for the day.
  5. When you are just too busy to handle everything yourself and things start falling through the cracks, that's when it's time to hire some help. Get a Virtual Assistant or hire temporary help through sites like www.elance.com or www.guru.com .
  6. If you aren't sure about hiring help, read a book called, The 4-Hour Workweek by Timothy Ferriss. If this doesn't convince you to hire someone, I am not sure what will.
  7. Don't answer your telephone every time it rings; check voicemail messages 2-3 times per day at specific times.
  8. Don't check email every 5 minutes; check email only 2-3 times per day at specific times.
  9. Set up an email account that ONLY your clients use to correspond with you to separate all other less important items.
  10. Set up an email account that you ONLY use for professional development (i.e. ezines, resources, tips, etc.)

You'll be glad you set up these systems for yourself after they are implemented. You will be more focused and this will reduce your stress, gain you more time for yourself and family and even, possibly, allow you to work on projects that will increase your profit margin.
